The Green Mountain Monteverdi Ensemble of Vermont will perform beautiful works from the greatest Spanish composer of the late 16th and early 17th Century: Tomás Luis de Victoria. The six-voice ensemble will perform Victoria's Requiem Mass, the Officium Defunctorum, originally published in 1605. This work includes the Mass for the Dead and two motets, Taedet animam meam and Versa est in luctum. The second half of the concert consists of Victoria's best-loved motets for four and six voices including O Magnum Mysterium, O vos omnes, and Quem vidistis pastores. The exquisite harmonies of Victoria, which take surprising turns, will transport the listener to the glories of the High Renaissance.
